Virgin Media Broadband Speed Test

This is a simple Broadband Download Speed Test written for users of Virgin Media / NTL - it tests the download speed of your broadband connection by downloading an 11.8Mb file directly from Virgin's servers. Since Virgin Media Broadband users are on the same network as the server, their download speeds are measured most accurately.

Please Note
This speed test does not take into account file transfer overheads, so the highest possible results will be around 5% slower than your rated broadband speed. On a 10Mbit connection, you should see results around 9.5Mbit on a good day.

Maximum throughput will normally only be achieved using a wired connection. In tests, using wireless has been shown to affect the results by 40% or more. A good router on a wired connection should not adversely affect the results, but you should be prepared to plug your computer directly into the cable modem if need be.
